      Sport Shifters for 6LXX transmissions

Does anyone know if sport shifters, Lokar or others, need a BCM to function?
I have a 6L50 trans in my 66 Chevelle but I’m running just the factory ECM, no BCM. Currently I have just a drive position which is OK but I’d really like to be able to manually control the shifts through the shifter. I’m not interested in paddles.
      Thanks

      Same Situation for 8L90

I have the same dilemma only 8 speed . Bought the Connect and Cruise LT4 with 8L90 and there doesn’t seem to be a GM part that’ll do this . A few aftermarket brands but I really don’t want to be tied to anything with manufacturer specific electronic goods
