1st gen Camaro paint. Looking for ideas

Thought I had a color picked out for my 67 now I’m debating it. I was certain on shadow gray metallic which see on the newer GMs but wanted to see what’s out there that’s different than the normal black. White. Red. Etc.

      Thank you

Dave Kindig’s Modern Classikk has some unique colors, some of which have a lot of flop.

"Flop", or "flip-flop", refers to the difference between the amount or hue of light reflected at different angles from a metallic paint surface.

Thanks. Was scratching my head on that one.

Saw a 2020 Corvette with a a lot of flop. I think it was Zeus Bronze. Some angles it even looked like a super dark green, others like a metallic gray, others a bronze.

1st gen Camaro paint. Looking for ideas

I had Shadow Grey metallic as a front runner for my 69 but have since reconsidered. In the direct sun this colour is beautiful, with heaps of flop but I found it looks quite dead in low light conditions. My car is not painted yet, I’m still looking for the ‘right’ colour.

Don, have you ever painted bad blood, redical, or hellion from ModernKlassic line? I really love the Mazda Soul Crystal Metallic but it’s a tricoat and everyone I speak to really is swaying me against the tricoat especially for a Camaro where the front end will be painted separately and forget about touch ups.

Also looking for where I can possibly get the car swatches if they even exist.

No I’ve only used the Blue Suede Blue. It’s high quality paint, sprays very nice. I used SPI reducer and activator to save a bunch of money. You can buy the color chips on the Modern Classikk website but they are not cheap.

Good advice to avoid the tricoat. The only tricoat I ever sprayed was House of Kolor Kandybase on my 64 GTO. Brandywine over silver metallic. It was a lot of work. Repairs were almost impossible.
