Tire stretch and sidewall bulge question help please.

Hi all, been poking around archive's looking for an answer with some success but need advice.
I looking for some tires for new wheels, I have 18x9 in the rear and I need a tire with a near vertical side wall or with very little side bulge. It's looks pretty tight in the rear wheel well with just the rim on.
I'm running stock ten bolt with 2" or 2.5" Hutchins drop springs, regular shocks. I was thinking 275/40/18 on rear but after reading if I understand the tire stretch theory a smaller 255 might help achieve the less side wall bulge. Am I getting that correct?
      Thanks Jeoffery

You are correct. Most 255s will be 10.2" wide on a 9" wheel. Your 18x9 is ~10" outside to outside. So it should be close to flush.
