With filming youtube videos I end up with quite a few hard drives. I found some of the older build photos so I will link them up:
at one point we weighed the car and it is heavier than we would like but the weight distribution is spot on:Name: IMG_0484.jpg

We installed a 2015 Mustang Independent rear suspension. We thought long and hard over rear end options, light weight miata, light weight and some power handling 350z etc. but in the end we settled on the mustang rear end. we needed something that could support 500 hp.

We took measurements off a brand new s550 mustang and Set up this Jig to keep the rear end in alignment. The rear end was squared up and the fabrication began:Name: IMG_0058.jpg

The mustang floor portion was reused to give us correct mounting pionts for the suspension:Name: IMG_0066.jpg

The the first thing to be fabricated and set the floor of the mustang in place was the inner wheel tubs:Name: IMG_0069.jpg

next I had to continue the stamped steel frame rails from the Mustang Floor portion to the back of the car:Name: IMG_0124.jpg

So now we had another issue to work out. The rear wheels stuck out just over 7 inches per side. I read about a quarter panel stretch done on a 67 or 68 Camaro in a car magazine some where and had wanted to try it.

The rear tires stuck way out: Name: IMG_0167.jpg

Size: 286.6 KB

To stretch the quarter I cut it almost completely off except along the top. Then I started the stretch in the wheel arch by extending the wheel tubs. after that steel needs to be added in the front and back to make up for the extreme stretch: Name: IMG_0201.jpg

The front suspension is miata but this is the only photo of the miata suspension I have available on this hard drive:Name: IMG_0343.jpg

Now it was time to stretch the front fenders. We also lengthened the car by 2 inches for better weight distribution so the fenders had to be stretched and pulled. Believe it or not the front fenders were way more work than doing the quarters:Name: IMG_0363.jpg

And I found some of the oldest photos from 2 years ago.

This 2015 mustang gave up a lot of parts for this project. The front end hit kinked the roof, trans tunnel, rear wheel arches and the trunk gaps were off! Here Tony and I are cutting out the rear portion of floor that houses the sub frame mounts:Name: IMG_E8709.JPG

      Keep up the great work.
Have you weighed the car lately?

Not yet but I am curious where it comes in at! Crossing my fingers we’re still at the 50:50 weight distribution. And a little concerned we are way overweight. Once the glass is in I want to weigh it again. Once we have run it on the track for a while and gotten used to it I want to start making lightweight parts for it including a ton of composite body panels (carbon fibre or fibreglass). Lexan rear windows, fibreglass bumpers, etc.

Little surprised to see how big the 4 cylinder engine is. By the time you hand an intake off the driver's side and a turbo on the passenger side, it is as big as a LS.

Yes that motor is pretty tall! With out the transmission though a guy can lift the motor off the ground by hand!

      Very good work to see!
In the late 70s, 1979/80 I had the very same car and it was cool, good suspension and cheap for what it was at the time.
Good to see builds with another body style. I like it very much !
