If you’re suggesting sending men with weapons of war to take my weapons of war, then I’m fairly certain that’s what’s called an act of war… and the definition of tyranny.which coincidentally is the reason for the second amendment to begin with!

I had installed this 4th gen Camaro wiper motor in a different direction and decided I didn’t like it so I changed it to this configuration.Name: A933B43A-7700-4389-8F54-91E9D8B03158.jpg

Hahhahaah - that task is next up on my list. Can you share a pic of the modifications you made to the firewall to mount it?

      yes sir!
i opened up the stock wiper motor hole in the firewall to accommodate the 4 th gen wiper motor , then I trimmed the Camaro mounting plate down to fit inside the cowl area, drilled some new holes for the screws to pass though the firewall.
I have got to go to the junkyard to get some of the wiring to make it run , that will be the o shiiiit it works moment or back to the drawing board! Lol
      hope this helps!
i do know that the Camaro wiper motor has a mechanism for a park on it that others don’t have. And the chevelle need that part.

It does, although answers breed more questions; if you happen to take the thing back off, I'd love to see closer pics of the mounting.

And here maybe I can be helpful, because I do have the wiring and can point at things.

Your pic had me questioning things until I saw that you didn't have the wiring - namely that the 4th gen motor has too much throw (looks like you've adjusted for it but maybe the 70 takes a little more than the 69 does?) Looked like I needed about 1.75" from the shaft to the ball and yours looks closer to 2" with my completely uncalibrated eyeballs.

More importantly - here's how mine parks, looks like you're ~80 degrees offset from this?

Here’s some more pictures of the mounting in the firewall, and I have made nothing permanent at this point. I figured as with most modifications I would need to tweak it for the fine tuning to make it preform properly.
The ball on the arm is set at 2” at this point c to c , I can’t remember if the 68/69 chevelle had a park where the wiper arms pulled down under the hood. I know the 70 wiper arms disappears under the hood when turned off.
I will be going to the junkyard for the wiring and I was going to grab the switch from the column if possible, I’m making a list of other things I want to look for while I’m there. Hope this helps!Name: 6A241A63-3247-4A50-8856-9D0D7E6161A8.jpg

69 does also have the parking feature. I got the 1.75 from eyeballing the arm motion through what looked like the right sweep since I've put the old wiper motor arm somewhere "clever" - where did you get 2" (maybe the geometry is different in the 70s, maybe I measured poorly)?

I got that measurement from tack welding the old ball off of the 1970 to the newer wiper arm and turning it by hand to try to verify that it might work. But again I haven't made any of this permanent yet, when i get the wiring an hook it up with everything mocked up to verify it will work, then i will weld the plate to the inner side of the firewall to clean up and finalize this part of the build.

Have you powered yours up yet to see if it works properly?

Yes - the powering up I've done. I suspect the travel for the parking might be too far but I think the little spring will handle that part.

Are you using the org. mounting plate from a 4 gen or did you mount to the chevelle firewall? Just wondering as there is a tap on the plate that the arm hits as it rotates, i'm not sure what it does exactly yet.

It's not mounted - which is why I was asking about your mounting. I don't have the plate so it'll be a direct mount. It's sitting on the master booster just like the pic I posted, might try to mount it this weekend.

I see . If you could find one of those plates it might help you with the install. Plus it will make the thin firewall stronger for long-term use.
what are you using for a switch?

Switch is the entire 4th gen column with the entire 4th gen harness, made plugging it in a breeze.

I'm using a 4th gen column and wiper motor in my Chevelle too. The wiper motor is mounted to the stock firewall and I've got a tab welded on to catch the park mechanism. However, looking at how you've done it on the El Camino, I like your solution better.

I just went to my sons house ,he had a 4 th gen Camaro he had parted out a while back, the same car my 6 speed came from.
Turns out the only thing he had left was the complete steering column
So I got it home and pulled the wheel off of it to compare it to my stock column and i must say you are completely correct ! They are in deed a lot alike! thank you sir!
      pictures to come soon!

I'm happy with the weld-in ididit collapsible mount I used on my Chevelle. You'd want to double check that 2" is the right diameter but I think that's right.
