Dumb question: 4th Gen wiring behavior

I've adapted the whole (well, most of) a 4th gen Camaro wiring harness as part of my rebuild.

Everything is going well but I did notice a strange thing today that I am not sure is expected or not: If the door is open and the key is off, stepping on the brake causes the audible ding-ding-ding to happen. Is that normal and just warning me that I haven't closed the door yet? Or do I maybe have a wire crossed? There was once a time that I could have checked myself but that car is long gone.

      chime

Check the grounds on the taillights. Pressing on the brake, the current flows through brake/turn signal filament.
Since there is a missing ground, it now flows through the tail light filament. This triggers the chime module into thinking the lights have been left on.

Ooh - good point, there are no grounds on the taillights at this time, thank you.
