Todayís project is the manufacturing of a steering column support bracket. Brackets are the bane of all builders and we ultimately try to always accomplish at least 2 things for each one we make.
We will also endeavor to reduce their size and weight as we get all the measurements dialed in. Shorten, drill, grind, and ounces will add up to pounds.

Just trying to get the controls out of the way. Steering column and shifter were on the agenda for today.

Motor mounts for a SBF are quite easy as they are a flat plate. I would have preferred to have some flexible motor mounts but with limited clearance under the cowl I have chosen solids for the engine.

I havenít forgot about the threads that I post. I have been busy with a rather large project at home that has been consuming my time and limiting my access to the car, or at least where I am building the car. (Guesses are welcome)
The project is currently outside and waiting to be restarted, but I still have many posts to get us through the winter. My modus operandi has been to post an update as I develop new ones. That allows me to make sure our -40 winters up here still have something that makes life worth living.
While I do plan on having more time to work on the car before the real cold sets in, that may not happen. Ultimately, we will start our winter postings when the snow starts to fall and looks like it is here to stay for a while.

I like the way you caption your photos with text boxes on the pics.

Thank you. I am no computer genius but I think it makes it easier to follow.

[QUOTE=egoman;1362393]I almost pooped myself when Facebook marketplace showed me this. Letís see itís a 351 roller Windsor with an OD auto trans. Itís 2 wheel drive and is fully optioned. This people is a freakin unicorn!
I will use this powertrain and wiring harness to initially get the car running and moving and after selling all the parts off it that I donít need I should break even.
The previous owner babied this truck to no end. After we signed the papers I told him what its fate was going to be. He nearly cried, but I showed him what I was working on and he wasnít as sad. BUT he was still sad!

That's a 4905 GMC highway coach conversion that I completed in 1999. I used it to chase pipeline and industrial pipefitting work for 10-12 years. I am sure that it didn't make sense financially, but when the door closed behind me it was home and that was worth every penny. It also fulfilled a lifelong dream to have one. My uncle gave me a box of Popular Mechanics when I was a kid and one had an article on circus people living in buses. From 7 years old I knew that some day, some day!
