      Howard's Composite Fuel Pump Rod

I'm having my 406 sbc rebuilt after a standard fuel pump rod completely wiped the lobe on a Comp SADI roller core. I don't want to use the special bronze-tipped rod because I've read too many stories about them mushrooming and getting stuck in the block. I'm interested in Howard's composite rod.

If you have used the composite rod, please share your experience in terms of how many miles it lasted for you.

not my wheelhouse, but shouldn't the cam be able to take a standard fuel pump push rod? My Howard's roller cam didn't need a special push rod

Nobody knows why some SADI core cams get wiped and some don't using a regular rod. It only happens on high volume/high pressure pumps. Your cam may be fine and the next guy's will get wiped. Comp says you must use a bronze tipped rod (or composite) with their SADI roller cams. I don't want to use bronze because they can mushroom. I'm considering a Howard's SADI roller cam and Howard's suggested their composite rod.
