Second Gen Camaro EFI Fuel Tank

I had to pull the engine in my 73 Camaro this summer for a rebuild and kinda last minute decided to go EFI. I got an external pump and never considered fuel slosh in the factory tank. Now that its going I have an issue when on an incline. What tank are you guys running in your EFI second gens? Anyone make any modifications to make the stock tank work?

I went with a Rick's Restomod tank with the GM fuel canister and corner pickups. Do it once... do it right.

I've done a couple 2nd gen Camaro LS swaps. Used the stock tank and just kept the fuel level above 1/2. Never had an issue. If I was to do another Camaro I would buy a Tanks Inc EFI tank. Internal fuel pump. I have one in my C10 and it works great.

Don't try to modify the stock tank. I did that originally back in the mid 90s when I converted to TPI. I'd get starvation issues at about 1/4 tank. Back then there were no EFI swap tanks as far as I knew. I was able to make a 3rd gen camaro sender work so that I could run an in-tank pump....and overall it was ok.

I ultimately switched to a Tanks Inc unit few years ago. Original tank was 17 gal, the Tanks is 21 gal.

Have had the fuel level down to 2 gal and no starvation issues with hard braking, cornering or accelerating.

      Great piece IMO.

I’ve had a Spectra tank in my 70 for five years now. Has efi on it, took it off, going back with a different efi. Ran it with the in-tank pump, removed the pump and installed a pickup tube in its place and now going back with the in-tank. Never had an issue with any of the spectra stuff at all. Tank has the reservoir built in too so no fuel starve ever.

Another option would be to weld in a fuel panel recess and add in a 5th gen fuel pump assembly with one of the vaporworx products. I did this on the stock tank on my 1st gen and it worked beautifully. Eventually I'll mini-tub my car so while it was down and out, I opted for the Rick's Restomod tank since it gives clearance for mini-tubs.

Since I've already done a complete fuel system with an external pump I'm considering trying a Holley hydramat in the stock tank. Has anyone tried the hydramat yet?

I used the Tanks Inc tank also. I did however change out the original in tank fuel pump with a Deutschwork one. The first one was too noisy for me. Andrewb70 has a thread on how to do this with this pump.
