      Newb with 1964 442 project

Hello, i have lurked around the site for a lot of years. My current project is my 64 442. I purchased this car in February of this year. I have it up on the lift to tear the suspension down and to clean and paint the frame. I have ordered taller upper and lower ball joints and replacement bushings for the control arms.

I知 looking for this car to replace my 72 cutlass as my road trip car. I want it to ride well, handle reasonably well, and be comfortable. The drive train is the original 330 with a Muncie 4-speed and a 3:23 rear. I would like it to sit a little lower than factory ride height. I have no idea what I知 going to run suspension wise so that is why I知 here.

If you plan to just drive the car rebuild the suspension with rubber bushings, add some lowering springs and throw on some good gas charged shocks. Maybe upgrade the front stab bar and add a rear one. If you are driving it the rubber will be much more comfortable then poly. Poly bushings add a lot of harshness to the ride. An 1 1/2 or 2" lowering will help immensely in the handling dept. as well as the stab bars. This is about as far as I would go for a road tripper.
