      Convertible top material

1966 Lemans : I will have a new top put on. The original was canvas. My questions is 1: who makes a good top. 2: Canvas or Vinyl? 3: which material is more quiet?

95% of the OE convertible top fabric market is held by Glen Raven, which most people know about as Sunbrella fabric. Their OE grade fabric goes to Haartz, where the rubberized inner layer is bonded to produce convertible tops. (I know this because a very old friend of mine is VP of development and marketing for Glen Raven).

If I were replacing my top today with the best fabric I could get, it would be with Haartz Sonnenland or Twillfast fabric.

Stayfast is also a Haartz product but is not their top tier fabric.
