LS3/L92 timing damper + oil pump?

So I'm swapping the cam on my L92 and in the process of removing the cam gear and timing chain, I broke the plastic chain tensioner/damper.

Googling shows it's kind of a common problem and shouldn't be used with an aftermarket cam.

People recommend using an LS2 style tensioner/damper.

      What are your guys' recommendations/opinions?

I thought about going double roller but read that you need to clearance the timing cover to fit the thicker chain.

I'm not averse to that, but I'm on a budget.

And I've read mixed opinions on whether or not I need to change my oil pump since I'm ditching the VVT.

      Help?

Just get a new L92 tensioner and a new stock chain and call it a day.

I've used the single row aftermarket chain on my LS swaps and they have worked well. On the 2012 L92 I have my engine stand I did replace the spring loaded tensioner with the LS1/ LS2 type that are basically two plastic pucks on either side of the timing chain.
