Nu-relic giant hole for S boots? Better way

Looking at the install directions for my nu-relics. Its suggesting i drill a 7/8" hole in my body and doors.. I am like that a huge hole.. I dunno if I like that for two 12 gauge wires....

Does anyone have a better option for running two 12 gauge wired through the door jamb?

PS I have no door speakers. no power locks.. just these two wires needed.

Had to do it on my 68 Chevelle. Compared to the factory hole, it's small. The factory power window s boot was a 2" hole.

Most of them are sized so that the connector on the end of the wires can be unplugged off of the motor in the door and then the wiring pulled out of the door should the door need to come off and that way you are not cutting wires which would then have to be spliced back together or a new multipin end put on.

While you might not ever run additional wires through a door jamb boot, if it's a little over sized, who would care. It's not like you see this tube all of the time.

Another option is to put the two wires in some heat shrink tubing, then shrink it down and then find a rubber grommet that would fit snug around it and then put that size hole in the cowl side and door side.

I saw your other post and I think the doors have to come off unless you really want to fight things. Also once the holes get made, seal the bare metal edges to keep any rust from forming.

Get a step bit and drill it out. It’s pretty simple. I did all of this with everything in the doors and the doors on
