2009 Z06 motor and trans and wiring harness. (Whats it worth?)

a friend of a friend local to me has a wrecked 2009 Zo6 vette. He has already pulled motor and 6 speed manual trans(Tr6060) and the 505hp 7.0 liter 427 out of car. 60k miles on combo.

Car was totaled. Wasn't bad, he still drove it.
He wants $5k for the combo. Seems like a fair deal to me. Seems like I remember people having problems with the titanium valves on those heads, but no deal breaker.

      Is $5k a steal?

I have a 1964 2 door impala that will be restored into a protouring build. Realistically a 2-5 year project since my 69 camaro is not finished yet. Thought about getting the motor trans now if its a steal.

      Any thoughts?

      Thanks, Mark

LS7 427...seems like a deal to me at that rate.

Vette’s are either beat on hard or treated like trailer queens...so it can be debatable on how nice those 60k miles are haha

That's a pretty good deal. If you back out I'd be in for it. Yes, these motor were known to drop a valve every now and then. Best to plan on having them reworked. Keep in mind the trans won't do you any good it's basically a vette only trans. It does have a good resale though.
If I were you I'd jump on it if you have the cash.

Sounds like a great deal. Great enough to sit on for several years maybe not....

5k is a steal as long as the engine checks out. I'd have the valves checked just to be sure, and plan on replacing the heads with a set of AI or American Heritage if you buy it. Hell, offer him 4k for just the engine. Like mentioned above, you want be able to use the trans, I've seen them converted, but it isnt cheap to do.

That's very good deal, especially if you know the buyer & heard the car run & drive. Heads do not need to be replaced. Some do have valve guide issues. You can send them off to reputable shop (I used texas speed) to have the guides replaced.

The last $5K LS7 I bought was a scam....took weeks to my my money back through paypal. Everyone knows what they worth....If someone is selling one for less than $7-$8K I would be hesitant....
