      New setup help

I was hoping to get some help with my stereo setup. I am running a Pioneer GM-DX874 amp that is powering a pair of JBL GX628 6.5's and a pair of JBL GX9638 6x9's. After hooking up all the speakers and turning the system on I have to say I was not impressed with the sound quality. I am running the wiring like the pic below. I know there is a lot to do with Ohm and RMS so i added the info in the pic below. Hope someone can help!!!!!

May have a speaker wire crossed. Check it with a 9volt battery. If it is correct polarity the speaker will push out, if not will "suck" in. Turn the volume all the way up (on the stereo) and slowly adjust the gain(on the amp) until you just start to hear distortion then turn back just a hair. Do that for the front and the rear separately.

      What is your source unit?
I don’t have any hands on experience with those speakers, but their frequency response and sensitivity seem to be closer to an SPL speaker than an SQ speaker. I assume it sounds sharp or harsh to the ears when you turn it up? Not warm or full?

Was able to find out that the amp is putting out more whats at 2ohms and all I had to do was turn down the gain.

Thank you for the responses though.
