      Hood Prop for 69 Camaro

      Hey Beautiful People!

I have a fiberglass L88 Hood on my 69 Camaro. I put some sound deadener on it. Not it weighs more than it did and the softer hood springs are having trouble holding it up. Even so much that it has fallen on me a few times while working on it. I was wondering if anyone has ever put, or seen, a hood prop rod for a first gen camaro. I would love to find a good one of these to help hold the hood up.

Can you change out to heavier springs?

You usually have to adapt one from another car and or make one .There are lighter spring that some fiberglass hood companies have .Another way is to look at the billet hood hinge set up as well.

I used the heavier springs when I had a steel hood. They nearly destroyed the fiberglass hood the first time I used them on it. Now I have the lighter springs designed for fiberglass or carbon fiber hoods, but with the sound deadening its too heavy.

I dont happen to see any middle ground springs.

Did you find something? I made an aluminum prop rod for my buddy's '50 Chev truck.
