      Alcino's Bachelor/Track Party?

      Hello Everyone,

I'm getting married this August and thought Vince's bachelor/track day party was such a great event that I wondered if anyone would be interested for a second round. This time I get the harassment.

Here is that date of the Speedventures event that was chosen:
Streets of Willow Springs May 13th & 14th, 2006 Full Track w/ bowl
you can get more info and sign up here.
      $140 one day.
      $240 both days.
$20 transponder (get this, nice to know your times).
      $30 instuctor fee(for beginners)

It should be great weather and a great time. If you never ran with SV checkout their web site www.speedventures.com and read up. 1st timers must take a little class time and in-car instruction, but after lunch you are let loose with the rest of us. I thought the schooling would be lame, but I learned a lot and was glad I did it, so don't feel turned off by it. Also passengers are allowed! So jump on in if you have a helmet, I don't mind.

People who have signed up(really committed)

The Feb event at Button Willow would be good for us. anything but July or August because of the heat. If you all wanted to come up to Laguna Seca, there is a Green Flag Driving event the end of March. Their web site is down today for some reason.

Penny is due to be done mid Feb.. if she is up and running then count me in

Although I have only been on the track once in over two years.. I will be rusty (I really need to keep at least one car in one piece)..

The clinic was cool, but I felt bad for all those that came to watch and couldn't get a ride. Plus I wanted to ride in others cars. But hey,it was great learning about driving.

Renting the track could be cool. Vince, do you know how many we need to make that a worth while deal? Do we have to deal with insurance in anyway? Like a bond or something?

no it was really simple. The reason why I didn't want to rent it the last time because I had to be sure everyone showed up...I didn't want to get stuck with a $6500 bill for 10 friends.

email Les and Laura May (way cool people too) at [email protected] and [email protected] they will run down the details.

Let them know we are crackin out to come back...they should remember us? Atleast Laura May will. For those that want info on the track
I'll try to find info on Willowsprings too...more options the better.

One drawback to February is the probability of rain. Just a thought as I don't think anyone wants to use their PT cars for plowing up mud or digging trenches. The May event sounds better for the weather but either way, I'm in.

I'm in, try to avoid the holiday at the end of the month. Might be able to get two locals to attend. One is building a Mazda, not pro touring but it would help with the cost.

I think the track offers liability insurance as an option. You need to ask about course workers and a flagman.

Here is a viable alternative. I'd love to run the big track at Willows.

Thanks for the alternative dennis. That really gave a lot more dates to deal with. I've never been to Willow springs. I really want to try that big track. Will having the event at Willow Springs turn away the bay area folk for its added distance?

I think renting out the track seems really risky. I don't think we can have the numbers to make it viable. Maybe everyone here can surprize me, but the last two "pro-touring" events that I was at had 3 and 10~ pt cars. Also I don't think its too bad to do it with speed ventures or whatever. they deal with the flag people and give us a cheap option of timing our cars so we can brag, compareand and what not at the end of the day.

Personally the big track at Willow sounds good. I have done the small track and it really isn't very good track for bigger muscle cars. The bid track seems much more suitable for high horsepower PT cars.
