That's very disappointing. I hope they didn't use Camaro front inner fenders too, which don't fit right and are also common. Good thing your new frame has rack & pinion because the 1yr only/Firebird only steering components may have been replaced as well.

      Getting Rid Of The Cancer

After the complete disappointment of finding out what I really had under that pretty white paint I decided get a little drastic....can't have a pro-touring chassis with an Earl Scheib body... The arguments with the wife begin in 3, 2, 1......Name: 2017-10-01_Teardown_25.jpg

Sandblasted - Lets See What Else Is Hiding

The only way to do this right is to start from scratch.....Cause if you don't, things will bite you in the arse later.....Learned this when building my pro-touring Chevelle.

Why, did you forget to circle her with chalk and mark "keep" as well? j/k

Glad you'll be fixing the quarters correctly. Shameful all the atrocities hidden underneath that beautiful car.

Installing The Detroit Speed Mini Tubs

So I decided there is no salvaging the body at this point... it was time to gut everything. The only thing original is the roof, rocker panels, and deck lid. Everything else got scraped.

Wow, so it was THAT bad?! Amazing what can be hidden underneath what looked to be a pretty nice car.

Great build... reminds me of cutting the rear half off of my 68 Camaro & starting over.
Once it's all apart it gets overwhelming, like it will never be a car again.

Looks like you are doing it the right way. If it looks anything like your Chevelle, it will be really impressive.
Keep the pictures coming, it is nice to see the progress & should be really outstanding when done.

We decided to get rid of the plastic spacer in the front end for a cleaner look. I lot of metal work went into making it took factory.Attachment 204888Attachment 204889Attachment 204890Attachment 204891Attachment 204892Attachment 204893Attachment 204894
