      Narrow C5/6 Suspension Geometry

Did anyone considered using a narrowed C5/C6 suspension setup ? What would be the implications of using the entire C5/6 suspension and removing few inches from the middle of the cradle ?

Dobbertin supplies narrowed cradles for use with his frame adaptors. Lots of useful info on his website.

Using the Dobbertin front and rear adapters on my s10 but stayed stock width. He is really cool to talk with and will tell you anything you need to know about narrowing c5/c6 cradles.

I talked to someone not too long ago about Dobbertin having legal issues with the designs and products not allowed to be sold.

      Has anyone heard this?

Jacob39 what are you building? I am building a s10 Blazer with the Dobbertin adapters and would love to see more projects using them.

I’ve started building a 56 Chevy Cameo pickup. Slow going due to other projects.

I have one that's narrowed 6" for the rear of my Corvair, but I'm up front doing the trunk floor and sheet metal work for now. Rick's a great guy to talk with.

Here is an amazing homebuild where they put narrowed c5 corvette cradles under a 67 Camaro.

Tighten it till it strips & back it off a quarter turn.

That's the stock rack. It will require a severe engine setback. It has of course been shortened.

If they used a stock rack ( I assume shortened tie rods) they are in for a wild ride when the bumpsteer kicks in.

This is exactly what I was thinking. You could never just use a stock rack when you've changed everything else. If you wanted to have a narrower track width then you would be better served to make shorter control arms and leave the center portion alone.

I'll ask Tommy what they did. Not sure if you guys clicked the link to read the article I posted above but the car performs very well. The execution is so well done I doubt they created a bumpsteer monster.

I assume they used a narrower rack from something or had one made. Stock length rack will not work well on a narrowed cradle.

That sure looks like a stock rack. Custom steering arms?

I should of reread my own article lol!

The rack and pinion, sway bars and rear axles are also narrowed the same amount as the cradles.

      Few more pics:

I know that car from reading about it a couple different places online. They definitely modified the width of the factory rack. It's really well done from what I can see, but I doubt most people are equipped for the task of modifying a rack at home. Not a small job to do this narrowing deal, but having access to the factory control arms and all the aftermarket support is advantageous.

Google shortening steering rack there are literally dozens of articles on it. It isn't that advanced or difficult
