      Magnum rear seal

I have a leaky output shaft seal on my T56 Magnum and want to replace it. I would like to get one locally but haven't had any luck. I really don't want to mail order such a small and probably inexpensive part.
I can find lots of part numbers but the ones I have tried are wrong. Of course there are a lot more part numbers out there but they are useless without the name of the manufacturer.

I find it hard to believe that Tremec is the only company using this particular seal. Surely it was used on something more common. I have heard that it is the same size as some Ford seals and maybe a Viper seal but can't confirm.

I'm on the verge of pulling my hair out and don't have any to spare so any help would be appreciated.

Viper seal works, I had the same issue. There is also a thread here about verifying the tailshaft has drainback holes machined.

I will see if I can find the part number...

The drain holes were the first thing I looked for after pulling the seal out. I have them.
That thread did lead me to a response from btmatt saying he used a seal for a '66 - '76 Ford F150 with a C6. In a later post he states the seal is working fine.

The parts guy is gonna be like when I walk in tomorrow.

We use the part# 11424 rear seal from NAPA. It should cross over to a Ford C6 automatic. They don't have the extended dust boot, but works great.

I can't remember if the part number is the same but I did use a C-6 seal. Apparently they are available with and without the boot and with or without a flange. I chose flange with no boot. I haven't driven it yet, but it fits much tighter.
Thanks for all the help guys.

FYI - A piece of 2" black ABS pipe makes an excellent installation tool.
