Can I use this POSI unit?

Have a chance to pick up a used GM POSI unit for a good price. Obviously would rebuild it, but its a 8.5" 30-spline and I know we should avoid the GOV-LOK models... so is this one of them? Don't mind extra cost of 30-spline axles. Going in a '72 Nova 8.5" 10-bolt, and if its useable, any limits on gears? I'm wanting 3.42 ring and pinion for a 4-speed BBC.

That doesn't look like a GM LSD. It might be an Auburn, which are not rebuildable. Maybe someone else will know.

There are just some things that you’re just better off buying new. I wouldn’t buy any rearend components used unless I had to....it’s so labor intensive to swap out bad parts.

      Why not one of these?

Yeah... the seller claimed it was a GM POSI unit and wanted $100 for it bc it wasn't for a 12 bolt. But I was suspicious so I posted the pix. I've been looking at Quick Performance for a package deal (POSI, Bearings, Axles, Ring & Pinion).

Looks like an Auburn to me. As was said not rebuildable. Eaton or Yukon are better.
