      '72 C3 Z06 Corvette project

Hey, guys. This is my second project here on Pro-touring.com. My first project was a complete frame off rotisserie resto of a 1976 Trans Am SE twin turbo 455/4 spd. See my signature for the two links, and you can view the Youtube build summary here:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IeG0sz0Gvdw&t=2s

For my next project, I am taking my 1972 Corvette that I bought 32 years ago and I am doing a chassis swap with a wrecked 2002 Z06 with only 20K miles. I expect to make some mistakes along the way, as this is my most ambitious project to date.

You can see the Youtube videos starting here. Make sure you click on my video page and watch all the old videos, and then subscribe so you don't miss any new videos.

Quite a project on your hands there!

I found on my Nova project that the C5/6 suspension/transaxle setup really requires a car completely designed around it!

You’re going to have to shorten the C5 wheelbase 6.5” and make that ‘72 way wider. That means custom torque tube $$$. I put that chassis in my Camaro.

Chopping the floors out of the '72 to make room for the Z06 flat balsa wood floors and those beautiful black leather seats. This is crazy!

Working on the rear frame rails. I decided to go custom to give myself more inter-rail space. Hopefully I can reuse the TI exhaust.

I just got a new video posted on the side frame rails.
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGHbHkuTNIc
I think I am going to connect the two sides behind the seat with a piece of 1X3, which I'll need to buy. I have some 1.5X3, but the extra 1/2" hits the transmission.
