68 Chevelle Wheels & Tires Concern, help!!

Hey guys, I have a 68 Chevelle SS Convertible that I want to change my wheel and tire package on. I want to go to a more of a pro touring look. Thinking about running 19" in the rear and 18" up front. The rear isn't tubbed and the lips aren't rolled. A particular set of wheels I was looking at was a 19x10 with a 8.45" backspacing and 18x8.5 with 6.72" backspacing..would that work? What's the biggest tire I could fit? Also I posted a pic of the car incase you have a wheel in mind that would look awesome, thanks!

That’s way too much backspacing for a factory chevelle chassis.

Car is lowered with coil over suspension front and rear. I do plan on people sitting in the back occasionally.

6" of backspacing is probably the most you would safely want to put on that car without measuring, anything else I would use a wheel fit tool first.

You might be able to get a 305 in the back , problem with 68-72 A bodies is how fast the wheel well gets narrow , if you follow what I'm saying

Think I found the wheel I want. 18x10 in the rear but they offer, 5", 5.5" and 6" back spacing. I want to run a 305 35 18. What back spacing would work?

5.5 might ... do some home work on the site here theres enough threads about it with the info again the biggest issue is the rear wheel wells once you lower and or add load aka passengers and the suspension compresses you will rub . If I recall correctly you should be able to do a 305 . Again do some homework and remember not all 305s are the same width . I'd look for a narrower one if possible . Good luck

Everyone I'm finding who runs an 18x10 with a 305/35/18 had around 5.75" of backspacing. So the 6" I think would be better, correct?

I believe the most you can run is 5.75 . So unless you find a rim with that offset I'd say no to the 6 inch
