      Seat suggestions for auto-x seats

      For my 1969 Firebird. I see a lot of seat options that have larger bolsters but honestly, many look huge and bloated (like the Procar 1000). I don't want to be driving a damn la-z-boy. But I also don't want a Kirkey with just a thin cover. Now maybe something like a Kirkey with a padded cover. Or the right Recaro. I also don't want to deal with badly designed mounts that are going to make me feel like I'm sitting up higher in the car.

      I need it to be suitable for auto-x/track day events like optima. I need it to fold forward so I don't loose backseat access (I have teenage boys that love to ride in the car). I don't want my ass to be sore like I was sitting on a folding steel chair. I don't want to feel like I'm in a recliner. I don't need it to recline. I just want a normal padded seat with bolsters for racings that folds forward. Is that too much to ask? I'd also like it available in black vinyl so it goes with my stock interior. Also I'm not a huge fat guy, I'm only 5'9" and a bit chubby now that I'm 40 haha! I find that I fit very well into normal size race seats without needing something extra wide.

      I like the Sparco Chrono Road for example and would like some ideas for other seats that are similar: https://www.ebay.com/itm/254189439357 - Can you guys please check the dimensions on this Sparco and tell me if it will fit a 69 F-body? I'm down for custom making whatever bracket I need to.

      As much as I love the Recaro Sporster GT, I'm not paying $1,300 for a seat. I'd like to stay under $600.

      Suggestions? Thank a lot!

Size:  131.8 KBI’ve got Recaro Specialist M’s in my 68 Camaro and I LOVE them! Got them thru Renee at Northstar Motorsports in record time. They sit low, are super comfortable (been on two 8 hour road trips) and hold you in place during autocross events. They have all the adjustability you mentioned, you can get them in black vinyl or leather and the Planted seat brackets make the seats a direct bolt in. I’ve seen some similar designs by other companies that have the same appearance as the Specialist/Specialist M that may be less expensive as well. On mine, I had the back seat stitched up to match the fronts.

      The Chrono Road should fit fine.

      We're a Recaro dealer, I highly recommend them over anything because of their overall quality. The foam is long-lasting, and they do have nice bolster/support.

      Sparco & Corbeau are the only decent cheaper ones, but you get what you pay for. The Sparco vinyl is kind of tacky looking to me. I've used their cloth ones and they feel decent.
      We do deal with Corbeau a lot.

      Shane I have been looking at a bunch of rear seats stitched up to match recaro fronts for my car (which I still need to order from Dale) , yours are exactly what I have been looking for. Nicest job I have seen so far! Chad.

      Just my .02 but I have 2014 VW GTi seats in my 68 C10. Paid $200 for a real nice set. Nice seats. Mine are fabric. Some were leather. Mine started out as grey but I wasn't digging the color so I changed them to black with spray bomb fabric paint. Turned out great.

      Don't know if they will set up too high in your car. They have manual height, lumbar and tilt. PM me and I can text you some pics.

      I received everything and it appears the seat base is a bit too wide. The bolt holes line up ok, but because of the rocker and the trans tunnel, the feet don't touch all 4 corners.

      It looks like I may need like a 1/2" spacer under each and longer bolts to go with that.

      Anyone else experienced this with the Sparco mount in a 69 Camaro/Firebird?

      I mean, I *could* MAKE it work but then the sides of the top of the base would for sure be hella digging into my carpet on each side.
