Some progress on the front cross member. I don't know what happened but my welding was exceptional last night.

Just a bolt, I messed up on the design, but I'm going to remedy it by sleeving the middle of the support tabs as well as the out side edges of the rockers. And to ensure they aren't pinched ill use locking nuts and only snug them up. Or at least that is the plan for now.

If anyone here has experience putting a brake system together i would appreciate some input! I ran some calculations to determine master cylinder sizing compared to my over sized calipers I plan on running and came up with the following.

What i am unsure on currently is what is the typical clamping force seen on a track car and what is the travel distance a brake caliper piston would typically see under driving conditions. As of right now I see around 3500lbs of clamp per caliper at 0.03" travel at 70lbs input force at the pedal.

There must be an error in your math.
No way .03” travel will get anything done.

That's an input value (my estimate) of the stroke one piston will move under braking. How much do you figure they move? When a system is bled and sitting in a resting state the brake pads basically sit right on the rotors surface. My logic was that there is very little movement required to begin stopping the vehicle?

That’s not the case. The piston on the MC travels more than 1”

This is where I got the MC stroke from. Wilwood's spec stroke is 1.1".

Right and the brakes start to engage maybe 1/3 of the way into that 1.1” stroke.
      Something around .3”
      Not .03”

I get where your confused. I'm talking about the piston stroke on the CALIPERS. I'm estimating the caliper pistons only travel 0.03", not the MC. I know what the MC travels from the data from Wilwood.

That's what i want to confirm, how much the caliper pistons need to travel to stop the car. I'm going to just run with that figure for now and see how it all works when it gets here. I'm guessing its pretty close.

Progress update, waiting on a ton of parts currently

The red car in the last picture is one of those Factory Five kit cars. My little brother just picked it up on the weekend. They are quite the machine.

Update. Did lots. Pretty sure my over kill exhaust will drag on the ground so not sure what to do there but hey, might be running soon here.

      Thanks!

Missed another photo, really like this shot. Kind of wish the supercharger wasn't in the way now blocking off the drivers side.
