      I don’t have experience with the TKX but I’ve driven some T56 cars over the years. Based on your question, I would personally go close ratio TKX. You can use the traditional style Chevy bellhousing, it’s smaller (easier to fit) and lighter.

      Most people want and recommend the 6spd for additional gearing and being “modern”. If you’re looking to sell the car in the future, a 6spd is probably better for the traditional buyer of a pro-touring car. They’re good transmissions, drive well, etc. No arguments from me there.

      This goes away from what most people want or will recommend but if you really want to build an ultra lightweight setup, you could run a 2.98 Muncie M22Z transmission with a 2.73-3.07 rear ratio. That LS3 combined with a Muncie would make for the lightest setup you could run in the car. A bonus would be an engine setback due to shorter bellhousing/transmission length.

      I'm debating this myself .. I've 99% decided on the T-56 Here's my cliff notes.. LOL

      Removing the Muncie M20 and going with either the TKX or a T56. I'm not concerned with cutting the tunnel, it's already been butchered and needs attention.
      Jody's Transmission will be the supplier
      600hp 550tq BBC 3:55 gear, 26.68 diameter tire (may go a little bigger to 27.15)
      Street cruiser, maybe some Auto X, doubtful of ever seeing a drag strip
      Currently, I am 3,200rpm @ 70mph & 3,450 @ 75 mph
      so doing some math.....

      TKX 600 lb-ft = .68 or .81 over drive
      .68 = 2,176 rpm @ 70mph ~ 2,346 rpm @ 75 mph
      .81 = 2,592 rpm @ 70mph ~ 2,795 rpm @ 75 mph
      .72 = 2,304 rpm @ 70mph ~ 2,484 rpm @ 75 mph but this one has the 3.27 first gear which is too steep otherwise would be perfect.

      T-56 700 lb-ft 2.66 1.78 1.30 1.00 .80 .63
      .80 = 2,560 rpm @ 70 mph
      .63 = 2,174 rpm @ 75mph

      For me, I think the jump in to the .68 OD will be too much with the TKX which is why I like the extra .80 of the T-56 before we get to the final .63 OD

      I did not have a TKX but instead a .68 OD TKO600 behind a LS3. I can tell you that I just installed a T56 Magnum F in my car and having the second overdrive is well worth it for me.

      The TKO didnt shift like the newer TKX i hear but my opinion is just based on my conversion from a 5spd to 6spd. Going from 1:1 to .68 when alot of roads around my house are 45-55 was very annoying.

      3.55 rear gear and 26.5" tire here, loving it so far.

      No console as well so I like having the shifter further rearward on the F. I run a Tick 98-02 Camaro shifter with no issues.
