      Bumper

My back bumper fits great, but when I went to hang the front one today I just did not like how it looked, it was too wide.So I chopped an inch out of the middle and went and hung it up again. Then the two ends were pointing a little bit towards the middle and it looked even stupider. so I took a brave pill and started cutting a notch here a v-cut there, hammer, hammer, weld, grind, ect... anyway now it fits, but I ran out of time to hang it tonight. So yeah I cut up an irreplaceable bumper, yeah my balls are feeling huge tonight.Name: F6D83DDA-A0FC-4D5A-8B31-909D91CF5674.jpg

Yeah it’s dying slowly, but I sure is nice to kneel on. If I was smarter i would just keep the work bench clean enough to use and not work on the floor as much. Oh well.

All I can say is DUDE! Wow. I’m just blown away with your skills to fabricate all this and meld it together, but to even envision this project in the first place is insane genius. Best build I’ve seen!

thank you so much, that means the world to me, though I feel I should admit: I feel like none of my plans worked out. I really wanted to just restore the car and mildly lower the suspension. I have not picked any of the parts, the opportunity to buy them at prices I could afford just sorta happened. Totally flying by the seat of my pants here, but I am having fun.

Thanks! I think I have the solution figured out and parts shipped out yesterday. Here is what I bought, after a ton of reading. Crazy thing is it’s a ford part, look how brand loyal I am... mercury body, Ford Taurus bodied nascar, for mustang engine/ trans, and ford steering. I love an ironic accident

Well, I am still dicking around with the bumper, it is getting closer to fitting but more to do, I am praying I will get it right. I also made up a couple brackets for my headlights, (yes I know they are super illegal, Utah is very forgiving when it comes to vintage vehicles.) After playing with it a few hrs. I needed a win so I finished up the cooling system. I am bypassing the heater core for now, I plan to do hvac, probebally a vintage air mini, but the funds are not there yet and I need a bunch of stuff to get her rUnning. As the snow is coming (tomorrow if the weatherman is to be believed) I scraped together some cash and bought a garage heater. 60,000 btu works this place up quick!Name: 56906BFB-E78D-4AED-B34F-3E0492359661.jpg

So I am bouncing around a bit, but today was trunk floor day. I cut out the old and very damaged fuel cell mount and built and installed floor braces. Then I started playing with the exhaust. I have some “bad” ideas on how I am planning to run it but to start figuring it out I took the magnaflow mufflers from the wrecked mustang, notched and straightened the tips, and welded them together. I am planning to center mount them with the tips flush with the rear cross member. It is gonna suck to get it all to clear the rear suspension but I will figure it outName: 28DAD8CF-ABE9-4048-9BCB-8259473BC96C.jpg

So, I work for fedex, and this time of year is stupid busy, so I am working 6-7 days a week, and this may be my only day off this month, so I took advantage of it by getting all the power steering stuff figured out. It starter with the wrong pump, but I had a left over reservoir I changed my mind on so I wasn’t too worried. I had a local shop make me a high pressure line and sell me a bunch of other tubing for the return and to hook up the tank. I am running out of space up front, but I managed to squeeze it onto the passenger frame rail just behind the radiator, and under the overflow tank. I made up 4 mounts and came up with a vibration damper that I think will work. All the hoses worked out great. Hopefully the tank is ok with oil... we will see.Name: 6B9BD80C-54D4-4EF1-AA09-CA0565360ED2.jpg

Things have finally started to calm at work and at home, so I seized the moment (3 hours of moments actually) and finished reshaping the front bumper still some clean up and body work to do, and I need to finish the mounts, but at least it fits the shape properly. I also got some more poster board and began the designing of the dash and center console. I wanted to put the nitrous tank between the seats, but I would bash my elbow on it when shifting, so I put it in the back. Not too much to show this time, but the drought has ended and work has re-commenced.Name: AC379B93-016A-4191-8BE9-034083840E91.jpg

There is a guy on you-tube called Mike Patey. He does some very cool aircraft stuff and really simplifies carbon fiber work. Like you his builds entertain me. Because you have been a little slow on posting I will tell you the same thing I told him. I need to see your content, so "Dance Monkey Dance" LOL. Good to see you back at it!

Thanks for the compliment. Glad you like it, but life is a balancing act. I have an incredible wife and three great kids (who are little) and a demanding job (especially in December) I do the best I can. I would love to spend more time in the garage, It just doesn’t always work.

Merry Christmas everyone! Look what I found under my tree this morning! The last piece of exterior body work, the part of the grill I have searched long and hard for and was unable to find for a reasonable price if at all, my neighbor had one! Still can’t figure that one out, but either way it was incredible of him to part with it and even more so as a Christmas gift. Is Life is good or what! Hope you all had a great christmas as well.Name: 11C1F1DA-8498-4641-AE72-639E9C380C92.jpg

Yea but then you'd have just another "off the shelf" car like everyone else has. There's a reason people notice what's different .

Another great day in the garage. Sorry for the time gap, I have been spending every spare moment skiing (I live 20 mins from 7 different resorts and 45 mins from 3 more, I love Utah in the winter!) so today I am one throwing caution to the wind (also how I ski) and chopping and welding on bits I cannot replace. my car is a 67 in 69 mercury had the center grill bit (beak?) as a part of the hood, I love how they look with the hood up and so I attached the grill bit I got for Christmas to the hood, after I welded in a filler plate and made some cool flanged gussets to hold it all together. It may not look like much but that was 3 hours of work, I dig it. Name: 6D200412-2EDD-485E-A145-5409895097EC.jpg
