      Paint prep underside of body...

      Hi All,

I've just about stripped the Camaro in preparation for the RS Spec chassis. I'm planning on painting the underside of the body with Chassis Saver. Before doing so I'll need to scuff up the underside, but I'm a little unsure as to the best tools for the job.

I need to scuff it up and remove dirt etc not completely remove existing paint. What should I be using for this process?

      Thank you!

A quality epoxy primer such as SPI is superior to Eastwood stuff imho. Take it down as far as you can to bare metal. I use a propane torch and a putty knife on the undercoat followed by blasting. Three coats of epoxy.

Hi Don - thanks for letting me know which product you suggest! Do you have any experience or know how SPI compares to something like Magnet Paints Chassis Saver?

I don’t believe in any chassis saver type products. Go to any professional restoration shop and you will never see those types of products in use. Most use epoxy for good reason.
