      18"/19" stagger pic's

Looking for some 70 Chevelle pic's with 18"front and 19" rear wheels. Probably go with 315/35 rear and 275/40 front but want to get some ideas on looks before I drop the $4k

Is there a particular reason you want to run 19s in the rear and 18s in the front?

Not really just seeing alot of 18/20" combinations lately and i think 20's in the rear just don't look right.

What width and back space are you running? And any modification to the rear to get 345's to fit?

I agree, but I also don't see a need to stagger wheels at all. Look at Tom's GTO...it looks amazing with 19s all around. A light stagger is achieved with having the front tire be slightly smaller in diameter than the rear tires.

12” with 7-1/4” back spacing. Rear is mini tubbed, front fender are slightly modded as well. If I had to do it again I would just run 315/30/18 front and rear like the UMI LeMans and save a lot of time and $$. Andrew is correct my rear tires are 27.2” diameter and the fronts are 26” so it gives me a slight rake. I don’t like the look with staggered rim diameters.

The rear wheel opening is so big you almost need a 20. I think a 20/19 would look good.

With 20" the sidewall starts looking small and the weight of the wheels and tires starts to become an issue. Unsprung weight not only effects handling, but also ride quality.

I definitely wouldn't want a smaller sidewall, I'd run a tire with roughly a 4in tall sidewall on a 20 and that should fill out the opening. And I'm mainly talking about the fore and aft gaps that need to be filled up. I think the car below looks good, it's a 19/20 setup.

Putting a tire with 4" of sidewall on a 20" wheel is going to give you a tire that is way too tall. I find that a 27" tire in the rear looks optimal. The front can be just a little shorter to give a balanced look.

You really have to look at the available tires in the proper sizes and tread ware.

For a car that doesn't have frame or body modifications, a great looking combination is 295/40-18 in the rear and 255/40-18 in the front. The rear is a hair over 27" and the front is right at 26" tall. Falken 615s are available in that size and are excellent tires.

The Nitto NT05 tire is available in a 295/40-18 and 275/40-18. That would look fantastic and it is a great tire.

When I smoke the Innvos on the car now, I am going to the NT05 for some more grip.

That's exactly what I was thinking about going with. Right now I have 245/40-18 in the front and 275/40-18 rear but they are on 8" and 9" wheels. Was only thinking about going with the 18"/19" combo because I'm going to get some different wheels and want to go as wide as possible in the rear. But I'm thinking i'll stay with the 18's. Here's what she looks like now.

Is this a photoshop? It looks like the bottom of the tire is gone? Car looks great btw.

Oh geez, that's it. Hard to tell there's sidewalk from that angle in the picture, so it just looks weird. Thanks for pointing that out.
