Doesn’t it look like the rears have a deeper dish?

The inner lip on the rear is definitely deeper.

Yes...sure looks that way. Maybe the back spacing is different?

I got to go for a ride in this car last week and all I can say is Bad Ass. This car handles so good with the wheel and tire combo.

What’s the usual BS on 18x9” fronts on the 68-69’s? Current set US Mags 18x8” are 4.50 BS with 245/45. Seems like I have some room in there. I would like to go 18x9” with 255/45.

The wheels I used are 18x10 with 5.5” and 6” Bs. 305’s all the way around. No tubs in the rear but rear End is squared up good in the body and no rubs at all but close inside and out. Front had to do some inner fender well work but besides that it clears everything else no problem. None of the suspension is stock though and also using a ford 9” rear End. Each application will be different but this works perfect for this car. Super happy so far with the rocket wheels, I’ve been beating them up and they have been great!

Oh ok, I knew something had to be different. The rears have a deeper inner lip... Man them steam rollin 305’s look so sick under there! Too bad my years can’t fit those without major surgery lol! I’ll be getting a set really soon. I’ve always liked the Weld S77’s, but the thought of maintaining their polish and higher price is swaying me towards the Rockets now. Just gotta figure out the exact sizes I need without any rubbing and which color. Hyper Shot and Titanium both look nice.

Looks like you're running quite a bit of negative camber, David. That helps keep the tires off the outer fender lips. I doubt that front wheel & tire combo would even come close to fitting my 70 A-body, without lots of mods.
An 18x10 with 5.0" backspace (-12 offset) and 305 tire? Not a chance.

David, is your car primarily set up for autocross/track use?

For a car that doesn't have frame or body modifications, a great looking combination is 295/40-18 in the rear and 255/40-18 in the front. The rear is a hair over 27" and the front is right at 26" tall. Falken 615s are available in that size and are excellent tires.

      Andrew

Andrew-would these sizes fit with no mods on a 1970 GTO as well? Also I have factory disc brakes on mine, what front and rear aftermarket brake kits would you suggest for this car without breaking the bank?

      Thanks Sam

      Sam,

The tire combination that I mentioned was in fact on my 70 GTO.

There are many great brake systems out there. I have c6z06 brakes on mine now (make sure the wheels you have will clear). I have a Baer SS+4 kit on the Cougar. Both work well for what I do with the cars.
