      LED Headlights for 67-68 Camaro

I was wondering if anyone knows of a high quality LED replacement headlight for a 67-68 Camaro. I'm not concerned with cost. I just want the best quality available

I don't like the ones that look like they come off a multi winged Asian built car

But here are a couple links to look at.

Trucklight 27270C...you won't be sorry. They dropped right in my 68 Camaro. No bucket mods, no ballasts, no problem.

The Trucklite 27270C is a very popular direct fit requiring no modifications along with a relay headlight harness upgrade as described in the following link.

The beauty of LED headlights is you Don't need the additional wiring and relays that are needed for the huge amp load for HID and Halogen lights. LED light need a third the current that the others need. LED headlights use less current than the old original sealed beams that came in the old cars.

I'm a fan of the Truck-Lites as well, personally. I think they are the best looking LED 7" headlamp on the market, too many others look bug-eyed or too busy.

Looks like trucklite is the common one. I'll eventually find an LED that looks more OEM style and swap them out.

I have a aftermarket LED in my '68 Camaro. I bought the housing (with the glass front) and put a LED light in it. Looks just like the original and the cost is around $85 for the pair. Bright as Any other and have not had a problem in 2 years.

We installed a set of these in a customers 68. They fit great with no modifications to the buckets. Even work good with the hide aways.

While is it true HID and Halogen bulbs draw a lot of amperage, the headlight relay mod is actually about addressing the issue of voltage drop. The fact is that the factory headlight wiring of the typical 60s GM vehicle was lacking in that there was a significant voltage drop by the time the power was routed through the headlight switch and out to the headlights. A voltage drop to the tune of around 11v from 14.5v is normal in these cars no matter what headlight you run. So even the LED headlights benefit from the voltage increase of headlight relay upgrade. I would argue that the headlight relay mod should be done regardless of what headlights are installed.

      Worth it or not?

I respectfully disagree with the "need" for additional wiring and relays for Truck Lites 27270C, which use at max output 2.95 amps per bulb. Using a voltage drop calculator, the voltage drop is negligible. I prefer the KISS method, less stuff to fail, hide or buy. Just my opinion and I know everyone has one.....
