      18 x 10 with 5" BS 1971 A Body

Can anyone tell me if a 18 x 10 with 5" of BS will fit my 71 GTO? I have read 5.5 is optimal but not sure if these would work. TIA

That's important...I run 18x10 6.25" BS in the rear with a 295/35 tire, and have 1/2" between the tire and outer fender lip (rolled). This is on my 70 GTO which has the same front and rear fender wells as a 71.

18x10 6" bs will work well in the rear.

      285|40R18s on 18x9 rims w/5.25 BS

I have 285|40R18s on 18x9 Bandit rims with 5.25" BS on my '72 442 convertible. I have 1-1/2" clearance to the frame rails on the inside and about 1/2" clearance to the fender lip on the outside. My frame has not been narrowed and I haven't rolled the inside of the fender lips either. For comparison sake; a 305 series tire on a 10" wide rim with only 5" BS would increase the clearance on the frame side to 2" and would stick-out on the fender side another 1.2". Using this same scenario with 6" BS puts the 305 series tire 0.6" closer on the frame side and only stick out an another 0.2". Seems like it could work with the 6" BS!

Here's a few pics of my set-up. The car sits way too high in the back because I've installed the wrong springs and all the heavy goodies are currently not installed on the car.
