Brand new gas tank "Tanks Inc" leaking at 5 hole gasket from pump

Anyone else have an issue with a gas tank leak from the 5 hole rubber gasket on top of the tank for the fuel pump ?? Brand new "Tanks Inc" gas tank, fuel pump, gasket etc. Yes the bolts are snug too. Just curious. I hate when things are brand new and things like this happen. I did have a Full tank and the rear was jacked up a little.

Yes; you need to put some type of thread sealant (loctite) on the bolt threads. Usually that takes care of the problem.

Yeah, that. I use stat o seals under the bolt heads and good coating of aviation sealer on both side of the gasket and the bolt threads.

Do not overtighten, if the gasket starts to squeeze out you are too tight.

      In the instructions.

"For a better seal use Permatex Indian
      Head Gasket Shellac Compound or
      Aviation Form-A-Gasket sealant on the
      gasket and screws."

To be fair, if I need to slop goop on a gasket to get it to seal, it is not a good design.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I guess I totally blew the part in the instructions that stated to use sealer. Thanks again.

The rubber gaskets on my tank swelled in 30 days of use from pump gas. I prefer using their cork gaskets and slathering them with Aviation sealer. Does the trick and cleans up easy with rubbing alcohol.

It's pretty much that. I'm amazed anyone puts out a product anymore that is two flat surfaces with a junk cork gasket between them.

Yep, that's what happened to me. The local additives in the fuel caused the rubber gasket to swell. When I notified them about it, they sent me a rubber gasket with a slightly different composition. That one worked and is still sealing just fine after several years now.

Ditch the rubber gasket for cork and aviation sealer.

I did the same, I was very careful to not over torque the screws, mine still leaked. re-assembled with sealer. no problems.
