Hi from Russia!
Hello guys! My name is Alex, I am from Saint Petersburg - Russia. I want to add some pro touring style and most importantly handling to my 1971 Olds 442 convertible clone.
A few words about my project:
My Olds came from US around 5 years ago in awful condition. Its previous owner for some reason decided to make a drag car from a convertible. Destroyed the whole front side of car (both fenders, hood, etc.) replacing it a single piece of plastic from Glasstek. Frame and the rest of the body parts were also in poor condition: full of rust and rot. But the good thing: the car already had 455 rocket engine and TH400 transmition.
First, we put the engine in order, completely rebuilding it. Now we do bodywork - making frame-off restoration and installing new body panels and interrior details.
Honestly I do not like the pro-touring interior, I do not think that installing monitors in almost 50 year old car is a good idea, I really like the vintage spirit. I think I have enough monitors in my daily drive cars (2017 audi a5 and 2016 mercedes amg glc43)
BUT! My Olds need a much better handling for his 7,5 liter engine. The old suspension does not allow the engine to unlock its potential
So I want pro-touring handling and steering, new power steering gearbox, new suspension (new coilovers, new a-arms, new springs etc.) and of course I need new brakes and new wheels.
I see a very large number of A-body 68-72 car owners here. Please share your experience and ideas, I have a huge plans on my Olds and I would be very happy for any advice!
