      LS3 eRod ODB2 Port

I want to wire up an ODB2 port on my Nova with an LS3 eRod engine and controller. The engine controller bulkhead connector has the following pinouts.
      Pin Description
      A -- GMLAN High Speed (-)
      B -- Brown/White MIL
      C -- Engine Speed
      D -- Vehicle Speed - Out
      E -- MAP Signal - F - Plug Empty
      G -- GMLAN Low Speed (+)
      H -- Oil Pressure Signal
      J -- Throttle Pos #2 (0.5v - 4.5v)
      K -- battery Power Fuse
      L -- Ignition "OnPower
      M -- Ground

I have part of the connector figured out.

      ODB Pin Bulkhead Pin Description
      16 -- K -- battery power
      4 -- M -- Ground
      5 -- M -- Ground
      1 -- G -- GMLAN low speed

Is this all I need and are the ODB2 pins correct? Do I need GMLAN high speed and should ODB pin 4 go to the chassis ground?

GMLAN is same as CAN and yes you need both high and low which is usually pins 6 and 14 respectively on an OBDII connector.

The GMPP LSA harness doesn’t have one built in? I thought all of them (the GMPP) did?

The GMPP harnesses have an OBDII connector.

Maybe he used it to connect to Dakota Digital gauges. You can buy a splitter cable for $5 on eBay if that is the case.

If he is using the DD stuff, buy the OBD2 BIM module they sell. Works awesome.

The eRod harness does not have an ODB2 connector. it has an a 12 port connector with the wires needed to wire up the ODB2 connector, which is what I need to do. The engine is technically ODB1 compliant, so the ODB2 port isn't required.

That’s interesting, I read the manual online and it says there is an OBD plug on the fuse panel?

There is not a LS engine harness in the world that uses a factory ecm and does not have a OBDII port.

You got me searching for it again. I put this engine in 9.5 years ago and didn't remember it, but I hid it above the steering column. I followed the gas peddle wiring back until I found it. The installation instructions don't list it as one of the connectors...Thanks!

Glad you found it! Now, I need to know where this came from.

I read it somewhere many years ago. These engines are only certified up to 1995 vehicles which is ODB1 years and older.

I have an E-Rod LSA and on one bulkhead it lists the pair of GMLAN connections and I think I also also have the OBDII connections.

Are these interchangeable? For example if I had a cleaner route to one but not the other does it matter?
