      Miller Built Floater Kit?

Anyone use one of these 100% bolt on kits? Looks like an awesome kit and easy to install. Looking for feedback, thanks

Told Bret’s 48 hour Camaro has one.

Sold a few, dealer for him. Haven’t installed one personally but customers had good reviews.

I haven't done a bolt on as I prefer to weld on because I can. I have two in service, I couldn't tell you the miles we have put on them put I can tell you we have been through 8 sets of tires between the two.

Mechanically they are perfect. We are not easy on them. The only issue I have had is the center cap in the hub leaked, put it back in with RTV and no more problems.

I don't run the inner seals near the center section, I have before and found they did a better job of keeping fluid in the axle tube than out of it.

Great product, from a really good guy.

I have the bolt on kit on my 72 nova moser 12 bolt. I have about 6-7k miles on it. The only issue I had was a small leak at the axle cap o ring no big deal. I really like the kit.

Let's say a guy already has a Ford 9" with big ends, Wilwood 4-pistons with Spec 37 rotors and in hat E-brake. Questions: Will the Miller floating system require a new brake set up for the rear end, and will it effect wheel back spacing/fitment?
Interested.... and I can weld, so how hard is the install to get everything right?

Kore3 has them too. The problem is the caliper bracket is not designed for the 5.250” Baer Calipers. Told the 48 hour Camaro has custom brackets to make them work.

I don't see any cons with a bolt on kit. Even with a weld kit you’re still bolting Hubs to the flanges etc.

The kit pushes the wheels out 3/16” on both sides. That’s very minor considering Baers kit is closer to 5/8”. The brakes are a topic of interest, I’m being told the kits fit C5 brakes. Essentially calipers with 128mm bolt spacing. The kit is 100% bolt on....

I have 3/16" to work with since my car is mini tubbed and I an running a 315 tire. I would rather not change out my Wilwood rear calipers. I have also thought about sending my rear back to strange to have it converted to a floater since they area about a 3 hour drive away.

So pretty disappointed...looks like Kore3 was great and contacted Miller about brake brackets. Looks like this kit will only work with C5/C6 brakes. No interest in making brackets to work with Baer calipers. So much for producing products the “customer wants”. It must be me but I dont see too many people running FORD 9” on their corvette or using C5 brakes looking to go floater. Looks like DSE gets the $$ again.

Are you trying to keep your Baer brakes and still use a millerbuilt floater rear kit? Last time I talked to Millerbuilt he told me he would make his kit work with the 5th gen camaro brembo brakes if I sent in everything to test and paid for the r&d. I ended up contacting Scott at bigbrakeupgrade.com and he made a kit for my speedway engineering floater that would work.

Yea, I already have Baer SS4 for a Ford 9”. The Miller kit is for a Ford 9” but I can’t use the Baer Ford brake kit? I don’t understand that.

DSE said they can accommodate the SS4 caliper?

what are you looking to gain with this kit? Sealed hubs, knock back issues? I am in the same boat and have done gobs of research, regarding knockback and pros-cons of different setups.

Nothing. I like spending money and modifying the car.

in that case, currie has a sweet floater 9 inch setup with huge hub bearings on them. Also Strange has a sweet camber adjustable floater 9 inch housing. since you already have a center section, the new housings are about 2k, which is about what you would put into this miller bolt on deal after buying the kit and the axles to go with them.

^^ it would need the DSE brackets. The cost of the axle and getting all the brackets installed again would be pricey.

We use the Baer floater on every Baer brake-equipped chassis we sell. It’s really nice.
