Here is the original concept done by Ben Hermance for the project, I will need to get an updated one that shows the car as a 70 since it will no longer be a 72 as seen in the original concept

Nice work Greg. Is that gauge insert 3D printed?

Yes it is 3D printed, I digitized the dash on my friends CNC and modeled it in solidworks and then printed in on my friends Makerbot 3D Printer and epoxied the pieces together and epoxied it to the dash. (had to print it in multiple pieces since my friends printer only print small parts).

Over the weekend did a little work on the front brakes for the car, since we are running a ZL1 IRS in the car I felt it was only fitting to run the ZL1 brakes up front... and since no one makes a ZL1 retrofit bracket for the A-Body. I had to design and engineer my own (autocad).

I had the brackets waterjet cut from from 6061-t6 plate and machined them up on the mill. first prototype came out almost perfect,I still need to redrill the rotors for the 5x4.75 bolt pattern

as far as I can see I just need a slightly thicker piece of materiel. if there's any interest i might consider making a few sets. once i have a finished piece.

Thanks, wish I could take all the credit. a really good friend of mine who has been an automotive engineer for almost 40 years did most of the engineering work on the suspension and cantilever arms. I learned a lot working on this with him and I had a large amount of input of the design. but he really made this happen, I did however do all the machine work and welding on it. and truly been a labor of love working on this setup. and cant wait till its finished and get it out on the track and see how it handles.

Made a little more progress this weekend, got the trunk cutout enough we could drop the body on the chassis. Still need to trim the trunk up some more and figure out exactly how we are going to seal the trunk to the chassis.... and looks like we need to raise the rear end about inch or so in the chassis, which actually is not a big deal. just need to change the size of the shims we used when bolting it in to the chassis...

and now a little picture porn..

Started working on a new fuel tank, since the one I have wont provide adequate fuel. Talked with Carl over at vaporworx and ordered up a dual pump controller so I can run two ZL1 GM pump modules

Well looks like I have been neglecting this thread again... time for a major update...

Life’s been kinda crazy the last few months, quit my job, opened my own business, and designed my own line of LS3 accessory brackets for muscle cars…..

But the really good news is quitting my job has given me a lot of time to work on the Chevelle…

The rear cantilever suspension is done, the trunk seal for the suspension sitting in the trunk is done as well.. made a nice little seal so when the suspension slides in from the bottom it seals up and keeps the water out...

built a bracket to bolt on a Weaver Bros SBC dry sump pump....

Bought some new toys for the shop for so cheap I couldn't get the money out of my pocket fast enough when

he said yes to my super low ball offer...

A really nice 13 inch Harrison lathe, and a 12 ton Bantam Press Brake, for the whopping price of 1500.00

for both pieces... he even delivered them with his forklift

I built the lower part of the fuel tank I designed, and decided it needs to be a tad smaller so back to the drawing board on the fuel tank, that has been put back on the back burner and I will revisit it later.....

and I have now have a fully rolling chassis. We measured the car up and test fitted some rims my friend had laying around off his C4 corvette… actually they were off just a bit. so we crunched the numbers and found out with a little spacing we could bolt on C6/C7 wheels…

Now our original calculations showed we could bolt on the C6/C7 wheels in the back on the Camaro IRS with no spacer, but as luck would have it we needed to space the wheel out just a bit to clear the brake caliper. so I ended up with a 10MM/ .375 spacer which I bought on eBay for 30.00… figured I couldn’t build them for that cheap. but when it came time for the front spacer I just couldn’t find a spacer I liked. So I got some material from a friend who just so happend to have a 7 inch by 3 foot piece of 6061-t6 bar stock and he cut me off two pieces big enough for my spacers… and I made my own spacers… I really like how these turned out. also found an almost brand new set of C7 Stingray wheels with run flat tires on eBay for $1200.00 shipped...

so I know have 18x8.5 with a 245/40/18 and rear 19x10 with a 285/35/19 tire... and plenty of room for more meat if I want... (I test fitted the rear on the front and it fit... that's scary... Might be some bigger rear tires in my future. but for now these should work fine for me.

I have also started to look at wiring and plumbing of the car, got a Radiator with fans, installed the steering column and steering wheel, looking at how I want to plumb the dry sump (Dry Sump tank will be here next week), and how I am going to plumb the ZL1 intercooler....

And as I said earlier in the post, I am now in business for myself and have my own line of products coming out soon....

here's a little sneak peak, of a few items I am gonna be mass producing...CNC waterjet cut, CNC drilled and Milled, fit's Standard and Tall deck engines. I was a little to disappointed by what was being sold and felt I could make a much nicer product.. but there will be more on that in the future. I have a pallet of material showing up in a week and will be hard at work on the CNC for the next few weeks....

Congratulations on starting your own business! With the quality of work going into this project, it seems like you're making a strong case for your services. We're also very excited to see our DYAD on this project. Once it's up and rolling, let us know what you think of it.

Thanks for the Kudos....and the DYAD is a pure work of art, almost a shame to hide it inside the bellhousing....
