      Wilwood Brakes not fitting DSE spindle

      Installing Wilwood Front Brake kit 140-8922 on my 68 Camaro with a DSE subframe. The calipers do not fit over the rotor, forget centering. Wilwood provides shims for in between the spindles and the caliper mounting brackets, they suggest starting with one .029" shim. After doing that and not being able to get the caliper on I took it apart and installed four shims, just under an 1/8", calipers still not fitting. Looks like they are missing by an additional 1/8". Two questions;

      1) Has anyone experienced this?

      2) If not who you call first? DSE or Wilwood?

      Thanks, Will

      Pictures of the misalignment? Are you trying to shim the caliper bracket with pads installed?

      Do you have the caliper bracket facing the right way?

      Well it must have been late last night. Took it apart this morning and then discovered the 1/4" aluminum spacer on the hub (removed and hanging off stud for picture. Everything lines up as expected with a single .029" shim. I am assuming the spacer is to allow attaching wheels and checking clearances prior to installing brakes. I will double check with DSE unless someone can confirm? Thanks for listening.....

      That spacer came with the DSE frame? I don't recall having one of those and my BAER brakes installed without a hitch. Direct bolt on like they were made for each other.

      OK got the definitive answer. It did not come from DSE but from the builder that installed my suspension. With the spacer removed the Wilwood kit fit great. Thanks for all the responses.
