      72 Chevelle suspension

I am at the point to start looking at options for my Chevelle. My car is mostly going to be street driven with hopefully some auto cross or sporty driving. My chassis is going to be modified with a HPI chassis brace kit. My budget that I am trying to stay at is about $3000.

      1. I am looking at the QA1 stage 2 kit, mostly for the coil-overs and adjustable ride height. Does anyone have any experience with them?

      2. I really like all the good reviews of UMI and haven't emailed them yet to see if they might customize their kit for coil-overs. But plan to in the next couple of days, unless they chime in before then.

I’m going viking coilovers in my 71 Chevelle.

Didn’t like the reviews I read in the q stuff.

And ridetech is the best. But pricy.

Can’t recommend UMI highly enough, and yes, they do Viking coilovers. Great quality parts, excellent support, fantastic service. They are very flexible in what they can configure for you and very responsive with communication.

Sounds like a nice ride and glad to hear you are wanting to upgrade the suspension If you have not already, I suggest you check out what ridetech has to offer. Our 72 Chevelle Street Grip car is the most popular car in our R&D Fleet because it rides so nicely and handles essentially just like a coil-over car. The only thing a coil over set up will do is allow you to adjust the ride height lower (or higher) than our Street Grip system. This Street Grip kit sells for $2,200 and will do everything you are wanting to.https://www.ridetech.com/products/st...etgrip-system/ In addition I would also suggest the rear Strong Arms with our revolutionary new R-Joints. https://www.ridetech.com/application...ms-rear-lower/ and https://www.ridetech.com/products/st...ms-rear-upper/ Good luck with your build! I would love to discuss it with you. Whatever your preference is, you can contact me directly at 812-481-4732 or [email protected].

Just chiming in again and realized that I focused on your $3000 budget without addressing coil overs. Sorry about that. Regarding coil overs, I would also suggest that you review what the coil overs available have to offer. Do they have a 1,000,001 mile warranty? Are they mono tube or twin tube design? Twin tube is old technology. How much stroke and height adjustability do they have? How many clicks of adjustment do they have and do the clicks matter? Half coil overs vs full coil overs (front and rear). Our kit comes standard with Delrin (self lubricating) bushings and Heavy Duty Ball Joints and also includes Tall / Drop Spindles for improved geometry. https://www.ridetech.com/application...ver-system-en/ Ridetech chooses not to put together a kit that only addresses part of the issues. We firmly believe in a full transformation of your car, and that means full coil overs, heavy duty Proforged ball joints, R-Joints and Tall / Drop Spindles. Gotta have the tall spindles to get the camber right

Greg, I have looked at your products, and I know that you guys are one of the best manufactures in the business. Your kit looks to be top notch, but a little out of my price range.

I have also looked at your kit. You guys have a great product. But I am leaning towards coil-overs at this moment and didn't see that any were offered in your kit.

I've got Coilover Kits from ViKing! We don't have all the ViKings on the site.

Keep in mind if you wanted to purchase the front or rear only, we do sell everything individually. Also the StreetGrip kit does lower the ride height about two inches. I have included a link to a picture.......https://www.ridetech.com/products/st...ip-system/From one car guy to another, I have personally went the cheaper route and then ended up spending more money to get everything in needed / wanted. Just my two cents

Just my opinion, but I'd be more worried about getting good quality stuff that'll correct the geometry first, and coil-overs way later. And look in the used section, this looks like a really solid deal......https://www.pro-touring.com/threads/...t-ATS-Ridetech

Those are solid components and Herb is a standup guy. If I was in the market for parts, I would stanch that up!

I had JUST ordered a whole setup from Global West 5 days before that was posted, otherwise, it'd be mine!

Three grand (give or take) got me the SC&C Stage 3, Lee 14:1 with 30 lb valve and Spohn Del Sphere rear control arms.. The SC&C set up comes with Howe ball joints. I think they have a lot to do with how smooth and positive my car reacts to input from the steering box. I used the regular springs, since height adjustment is fairly easy with the SPC arms and a piece of all thread and a home made plate that fits into the spring to pull the spring up into its pocket to add or remove spacers..
After a summer of tuning the alignment, I am convinced my 69 el Camino can't get any better. I have over 15,000 miles on this set up.. I always take the long way home it is so much fun to drive, thanks Marc!!!!
