Detroit Speed Roll Bar Fitment Issues

I'm prepping my car for the DSE roll bar in the 70 Camaro. I cleaned up the area for the front doublers and fit checkment of them is not good. They don't conform to the floor well and leave considerable gaps...Something doesnt seem right...

Anyone have experience with the bar install that can give me some insight?

The cross bar location is based off the harness height so it is different with different seats, etc... Zero to 10 degrees down is the recommended harness angle.

Look how I can stick the blades of the scissers in the gap in the floor pan.

That's not too bad. I'd slice the plate to allow it to bend, and beat it to match the floor pan. Then weld everything back up.

You just have to identify where it hits/prevents the plate from sitting flush, and bend/cut it until it does. As you know by now, not all floors are the same. Mine is a 1st gen, so it's different; but I had to bend the plates to fit the rockers.

It is sitting flush...on the rocker panel where the square plate is. The lower part where it interfaces with the floor is not even touching...Its like the floor is too low (which it probably is being high tolerance 50 year old assembled car). There is no part of the plate preventing it from sitting.

needs to be above your shoulder line. As far as the gaps, if your that worried about it, weld a filler plate beneath it and burn it in. Not that difficult.

Mine went in without too much trouble. From what I recall, the plate had to be tweaked a little to fit, but nothing major.

With respect to the question about bar height, I was told that it can't go above the window and that the lower bound is dictated by seat/harness positioning. I'd have to check again, but I seem to recall that the harness shouldn't be attached more than 4" below where it goes through the seat and over the shoulders.

I don't have any of that specific area, but here are some others that may help you.

By the way, wondering if you are going to add any pieces to further improve things. I'm planning to add pieces behind the seats that connect the roll bar with the subframe connectors.
