AAW vs Painless for 68 Firebird?

I'm looking at what is a better option for a restomod 68 Firebird.

I'm planning on running the 400 with EFI but nothing else major like an infotainment system

      Thoughts? Advice?

I used an AAW Classic update kit and am happy with it.

I have AAW Classic Update kit in my 67. LS swapped/EFI/Electric fans fuel pump etc..

If I were to do over, I'd use AAW Highway 22 series kit.

Can't go wrong with either, both great products. Plan what you want to do, then compare it to what the kits come with. I went with the full blown update kit for my 67 Camaro, and I have a ton of wire and connectors left over that fit Firebird and RS, they stuffed everything in there. Lots you may not need and pay for one way or another.

That's exactly what I was thinking, since I'm really only adding EFI, I'm curious if I really need all the extra stuff in a "do it all" type kit

AAW is a better value in my opinion. Lot of essentials missing in the Painless kit.

I was looking through their notes and seems like it's a Camaro kit and you need a few things to make it work with the Firebird (like the headlights) or am I just seeing things?

I do like the Painless instructions though

Painless is a good but expensive kit. I found issues with the length of some of the wires being too short

I thought AAW had a Firebird specific kit....

I've used the Painless universal kit on a few projects. The first was about 10 years ago and the last was last winter on a 68 C10.

      A few issues.

Wires labelled very lightly which made them very hard to read. Wires labeled running the wrong direction. Install directions not included in the box. You have to down load from their web site. Are they just trying to save paper? Install directions that can be confusing due to asterisks saying if you have this then do that or not. The install manual looks like it was written in the 70's.

They include a container of blue crimp connectors in the kit. In my opinion the are cheap and look cheap. I didn't use a single one.

Having said the above I installed it and it worked. I had a few questions and the tech line was helpful. I don't think they are worth the higher price any more. 10 year ago when no one else had similar kits yes. Not now.
