      Manual Power Windows?

I was watching an episode of Bitchin' Rides, and noticed they had "power window switches" that looked like a normal crank-style handle. So searching for that product, I also came across this:

      https://www.autoloc.com/catalog/Power-Window-Kits/Universal-Curved-Window/AUTPW4600/2-Door-Uwire-Universal-Power-Window-Kit-with-No-Switches

which basically connects a motor to the existing manual cranking mechanism.

Anyone use something like this? Seems like it'd be cheaper and easier than replacing the entire hardware, but wonder how well it work, especially on a 50 year old vehicle.

There are also electric window systems that use what you would thing of as a normal electric window mechanism, but instead of toggle switches to actuate the the motor function they have rotary style switch that excepts the normal window crank handle, and you just push it up or down to move the window.

My question is different. I did already ind that exact same link for the switches in my original search. What peaked my interest (and my question), is their other product: a motor that basically connects to the window regulator to convert to power windows, As opposed to the traditional kits, that replace both the motor and the regulator hardware that moves the glass, like an OEM. Just wondering if anyone has experience with using that.

I have a kit like that from SPAL, really nice kit with lots of adapters for varies handle splines and so on. However it wouldn't work on my car (1969 Cutlass) without cutting the factory sheet metal. There isn't enough room to mount it inside the door because the window assembly and glass itself is in the way. Not enough room between the metal door and interior door panel to mount it in between them either. If you're interested in giving it a shot on your car, I'll sell it to you cheap. I just moved and it's packed in the basement and I'd hate to see if not get used.

It looks like this one, and I have wiring harness as well.

Funny ... I just talked to the guys at A1 this week about my project. Consensus is IF your windows run buttery smooth then those type of power window kits operate 'ok'. If not then parts will break. And of those Mr Nick has it right, the SPAL ones are the best.

      Cheers
