      1978 Trans am build

I have been building my pro touring trans am for several years now. I thought I would start a project thread and post what has been accomplished so far. I started with a very solid Western 1978 Trans am, the original intent was to build a basic stock driver. After getting it torn down it started to take on a new direction. I wanted to stick with a pontiac engine and not do an ls conversion. I found an 1969 428 block and started with that as the foundation for the engine build. The front sub frame will be replaced with the Detroit Speed sub frame and the rear suspension replaced with the Heidt IRS and 9" rear end. I also did the Detroit Speed mini tub and converted the door handles to Kindig it door handles.

Awesome. That is definitely a solid piece. Mine needs a little more love to get to that point!

      A few engine pictures

I am running a 1969 block with Edelbrock heads and pro flow fuel injection. I ended using the Edelbrock rpm heads, Ross full floating pistons and comp cam and rollers.

NICE!! A 428 too? Lucky dude! That thing is gonna scream, but make sure you address the oil pan shortcomings- I'd look into a Canton Road Race pan for it.
