      69' z28 automatic a sacrilege?

I am building a 1969 pro tour camaro. The car is a true x33 z28.
I'm planning on putting an LT4 with an automatic in it. I just don't
      Think I'll enjoy a 6 speed 70% of the time. What resistance/hatred
Do you feel I will receive for doing this?

Does the car still have the original engine and trans?

It's your car, do whatever you want with it. That's my thought. Also, there are kits out there that allow you to swap engine/trans in without cutting up the body. That way you can always put it back to stock if needed.

Probably no more noise than the LT4 will cause. My dad took a worn out, mismatched 62 corvette and put it on a custom chassis with a LS3, etc and I can say that there are haters roaming around.

It's not just the automatic but any serious mods to a Z will get comments. Based on my experiences, from "Camaro guys" you'll get an even mix of "I bet it ain't real" and "you messed up a valuable car". From generic car people will come, "That took guts" and non-car people will love it.

I cut up my '67 loaded Vette too. That gets mostly negative comments.

If you make the changes you're considering I know one guy who'll whole heatedly approve. I have an LT4 in my '15. It's a a sweet engine.

If it’s not a numbers matching car most will not care, especially on this site. Even camaros.net guys don’t worry too much if it’s not numbers matching.

I wouldn't do that to a numbers matching car. It was a drag car bought without engine and transmission.
It is a real x33 z28. But it's already been *******ized.

Haters gonna hate no matter what you do so do what you want. I’d love to have an LT4 8L90E car.

If the original drivetrain is missing, I wouldn't worry one iota about it. It might as well be an original 6 banger car at this point, but it'll be cool for yourself knowing it was a legit Z/28 to start with.

It's your car. My daughter who drives a stick almost exclusively may make comments though.

The problem is that the new automatics are strong and shift fast. They tend to be quicker than manuals. It is really hard to build a case that a manual transmission is better in today's world.

Just don't put a Powerglide in it.

Don't do it! Unless it makes you happy..then don't not do it.

But hey, my mustang has an LS In it, so dont listen to me.

      Build it for yoou!!

It's so funny that most conversion haters have never done any really done any nice cars. They have never been in an LS swapped car that really runs well. I have a 98 Wrangler with a LS6/4L60E swap. Many people have asked why not a hemi? It would be so much cooler. Most that ask the questions are meatheads.

Gotta say that new 6.4L hemi that makes 485ish hp is a pretty sweet engine. Nothing wrong with a LS. But if you were doing crate LS3 in a Jeep I might look at crate 6.4 Hemi instead.
And I’m not even a meat head

You car, your money, you do what makes you happy. A modern LT4 with the 8L80e would be a blast!
