Joris 77 firebird formula patina build

      Hey all.
the chevelle project was taking too long and i wanted to buy a car to rip around in. Always like patina cars and i came across this firebird. The plan was to just drive it the way it was for a while but the engine blew the first day already. Worn rod bearing. Kept driving until piston 7 cracked in half. The top half was stuck at TDC and the bottom half was still going up and down lol. Any ways the plan is now to swap the engine and trans i had for the chevelle. Built ls2 with forged internals. And the t56 i rebuild last year. Im gonna steal a lot of the parts i had for the chevelle project. Fuel system, wiring kit etc.
Just finished welding the trans hump panel but unfortunately it doesnt line up nice with the auto console. Heres some pictures of the car. Its all solid and pretty much all original. It already had subframe connectors, poly bushings in the suspension and heavy swaybars.

      Thanks guys^.
Engine went in. Had to cut up the ict billet mounting plates to make it work. Also made a new trans mount. Solid. Im gonna reuse the stock trans crossmember and redrill some holes in the front subframe to mount it. Most of the engine wiring is plugged in. My chevelle long tube headers fit like a glove.
A buddy came over to put on some new brakes and bearings in the front. Just stock as i want it on the road as soon as possible so i can enjoy it this fall for a bit yet.
Wiring isnt my specialty and this being the first time doing it to this extent makes me have to research alot but whatever.
Im soon gonna move to the rear of the car and set up the fuel system and redo the rear end. 4.10s and a posi/locker

      Update.
Its running and driving. Its been a lot of late nights the last couple weeks but it was worth it. A few things are getting finilized at my local shop to get it thru safety check.
Maiden voyage turned into a bit of a failure last weekend.
We were driving it down the gravel road sitting on the floor as the seats werent in yet. Big flashlight out the window as the lights dont work since the swap. As we were cruising a wheel flew off lol
Still fighting some fuel pressure issues but its almost there. Ive got to drive it to a wedding 5 hours away this weekend so wish me luck.
      Here are some pics.

Got the ford 9 in there.
It was fun making the ls1 camaro rear brakes work. I redrilled the backing plate with the ford holes( big bearing torino). I looked at the kore3 plates but i wanted to keep the internal parking brake. Also using the 4th gen camaro parking cables for the biggest part.
Looks like i have to get a new driveshaft too.

Looks great! I'd be curious to see how you redrilled those backing plates for the Ford ends. I thought that you needed a flush mount flange to use a disk brake backing plate? Maybe that's only when you convert to the GM bolt pattern though.

I redrilles the gm backing plates. Not the ford axle. Mine has the big bearing torino ends.
I used the bearing cover/retainter as a template to drill the holes. Name: IMG_0995.jpg

Few more pictures and that kinda wraps up this project. Of course there are always things to be improved but it wont be anything special.
Its fun cruising and gets a lot of looks.
