Most of the Hooker headers were designed for a stock starter . I found out the hard way that my MSD starter did not fit.

well went with genuine gm 2010 ss camaro starter.
Done with the heat soak slow wind starts so im adding an compact "odyssey hd680" battery up front where old large lead acid batt use to be to run in conjunction with my trunk mounted yellow top optima, should give me the amps and volts for a snappy start when out in this 100 deg plus weather.

The factory starter heat shield usually fits and is low cost. I use them on all my stuff.

wound up using a new GM Delco ls3 starter with factory heat shield for a 2010 camaro ss.
added a small auxiliary AGM odyssey battery up front as yellow top optima is located in the trunk, now it cranks over like its on crack even in 100 deg plus weather at 210 deg engine temps, no more wimpy slow cranking hot starts.
