      Electrical fuel pump carburetor

      Hi Guys ,

      Looking to buy an electrical fuel pump.
      First time using it so all new to me.

      I got a standard mustang fuel tank : https://www.cjponyparts.com/FT4/p/FT...c-14187766af8f
      Standard fuel sending unit ( 1 line connection).
      so no return lines.

      Seeing the electrical pumps, they all need a return line or you need to buy a pump which handles the return also.

      Now which pump will i be able to put into my car ?
      Since most pumps talk about EFI or beeing build for an EFI..

      Can i use these on my carburated engine?

      With a carb you will need to regulate pressure to 5-9psi, 7psi is ideal. So you specifically need a carb rated pump and regulator set. An EFI pump will NOT work! Something like this set from Holley does not need a return line and these have been around for 40+ years.

      When using the one you mention i need to add a return line to.
      My fuel tank only has one entry from te fuel sending unit,

      Do i create an inlet myself on the tank then or what is the best option?

      What's your guys thoughts about fuel lines,

      braided flexible lines, yes or no ?

      I got a jet boat with a 460 in it and my holley fuel pump keeps over heating. I was thinking about putting a bypass regulator on it but my tanks don't have a second outlet. Can i just put a tee on the tank and dump the gas there for the by pass?

      Fuel pump movement...

      So bought me a holley red fuel pump a while ago.
      All good, engine has been running a few times by now.

      For some reason, connection at the fuel pump started leaking.
      As said, engine has been running multiple times by now so i find it strange it starts leaking now...


      Not the biggest issue, when i wanted to loosen the connection to apply new thread sealant i saw this...




      Leak is not coming from there but it is strange that this is moving.
      What do you guys suggest, new one ??

      Use PTFE(teflon) braided lines if you go that route. Today's fuels will eat the rubber on "larger" braided lines and one day they wil leak like heck!

      I thought these were ptfe lines?

      But as said, that pump moving, anyone ever seen this??

      An EFI rated pump can work if regulated down to carb fuel pressure. Take the following 68GPH Holley fuel pump as an example. Rated at 600 horspower for high pressure EFI but also rated at 730 horsepower for low pressure carbureted applications...
