Volvrarri: p1800 with tube chassis and v12

My project is a '68 p1800 "shrunk and stretched" with 2x3 chassis, v12/5spd, mustang 2 IFS, narrowed explorer 8.8, and it will have an aluminum body reminiscent of a 275gtb/4 nart spyder. Not everything is pro touring about the build but it certainly has a lot of the elements.

Would you be interested in seeing more? This has been a little over a year in the making now but is certainly one of those 5+ year projects.

I definitely want to see more! Very interesting project, I like the combination of Italian Ferrari + Swedish Volvo.
The P1800 had some italian style looks to it from the beginning. Could you tell some more about the ferrari drivetrain you will be using?

It was actually designed by an italian guy, Pietro Frua.

Yes--weird is good. Thank you for not presenting a Camaro (not that there's anything wrong with a Camaro).

Funny, one of my neighbors came up the driveway and asked to see my "camaro". He was referring to the 1800 when it was a stock junky shell.

So it looks like there's a good bit of interest in my crazy idea here. I'm going to play catch up and just give some highlights with pictures or course...

If you want to read the full build to this point go on over to GRM https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/fo.../129937/page1/

The 275gtb has long been a favorite car of mine and now that I have a little time and space I wanted to build a somewhat faithful replica. Exact would be nice, but I'm going to fudge some areas (mainly using the volvo windshield- which could change).

Here's a little brainstorming I did to decide upon the 1800 as a donor. Really I only needed it for the doors, A post, and windshield frame.

I purchased the car from a metal recycler who was about to scrap it. I sold off what I didn't need and probably broke even on it.

Next I needed an engine to build everything around. The jag engines are easy to find and have the right look and sound when dressed up. I'm leaving it relatively stock, keeping the fuel injection, but will be building new intakes and exhaust manifolds.

I spent some time cleaning it up before mock up, new seals and hardware here and there. I will do more when it is further along.
