      T56 Chevelle question

      I have a 1970 chevelle 454/T400. About to fit a new ZZ502 T56 connect and cruise package. Anyone been down this path. My two biggest questions are around tranny fitment and hydraulic clutch setup. Any advice? Premade patch panels, crossmember, clutch master cylinder and bracket, etc.

      This kind of swap has been done before, be patient I feel like someone better equipped with answers will chime in later.

      I know ABC performance has a firewall bracket for the hydraulic clutch set up , the tranny tunnel needs to be raise and or replaced . one company that sells a new tunnel kit for the chevelles is speedtech, they just released this so it might not be on the website as of yet .

      If I can help in any way just let me know. I have a good friend of mine installing a T56 Magnum in his 70 Chevelle/ 454BB right now so it should be right in line with where you're at.

      If you're needing some hydraulic master cylinder parts we have a solution for your car here https://www.bowlertransmissions.com/...kit-gma-68-72/

      Hi, I am about to embark on the same task (1971 SS454). I am new here (just registered). Was going 4L80E but changed my mind and going T56. Check this thread...https://www.pro-touring.com/threads/...ghlight=rucumn. The only thing after reading through it is why he needed an adapter plate. I am not there yet but a LS-1 1999+ should bolt right up to the 454. I plan on using the stock slave from the 1999-2002 Camaro with the Hydraulic Master cylinder from same. A complete kit from Autozone is $118 with reservoir. I just have to create mounting plate like a mcleod set-up. But I am still in the planning phase and plan on changing the mainshaft to either a viper or SSR configuration which will pretty much make the thing bulletproof. Still checking into all the parts needed. Let me know how you progress. I can send you what I know so far if you'd like. Good Luck

      Thanks Bowler. As far as your master cylinder option goes, that looks like a nice set up. Couple of questions;
      1. No offense but the price is a little steep compared to others, what’s the differences that make it worth it.
      2. It’s a little unclear if it comes with the proper lines and fittings, does it come with a line to attach the reservoir or just the line to the slave?
      3. Also on your website I see lots of Camaro and nova options for crossmembers but nothing for the Chevelles. Do you offer a crossmember for a 1970 chevelle Big block, t56 magnum setup? I would love to find a one stop shop where I can order everything I need.

      i just installed an lt1 t56 behind an sbc in my 71 el Camino so I can help with some questions.

      I used my stock crossmember, just slid it back 2 inches and the holes where already there in my frame so no drilling or mods needed.
      I used the Mcleod kit for hydraulics, it worked well, had the slave, master, lines and reservoir. I got the quick disconnect fittings but end up using 3an line to make things simpler
      For a tunnel patch I used

      It’s kinda pricey but it saved quite a bit of time

      Stock parts and an ebay or speedtech bracket work fine and are dirt cheap.
