      My 1967 Firebird (Updates)

Howdy, been a member for a while just haven't updated in a long time.

She was originally a 1967 Firebird 326 Auto, well that’s all changed. I started doing some suspension work on it back in 2014 I realized the car was not as solid as it looked. At least not for my liking and the whole scope of the build changed.

Currently have my car on a chassis jig to replace almost every panel except the skeletal structure and firewall. I’m doing all the work myself so it’s taking a good bit of time but at the end of the day I’ll have built my own car.

New motor is a 12.5:1 pump gas 408 that is currently under construction. Callies Compstar crank, Callies rods, custom Diamond pistons Texas Speed 2.5 ported 243’s custom camshaft similar to a GM ASA cam, a worked over Edelbrock super victor, Carb and GMPP distributor set up. No major power goals, I’m not trying to break records, I’m just trying to build a very reliable motor for road racing. A few other little trick items in the motor but they dont really do enough to mention.

      Many updates to come

It's nice to see a (non-Extreme) Speedtech sub frame. I have also powder coated mine to a similar color (battleship grey). I notice your using the ridetech LCA. Was that decision based the bitchin ridtech shock mount over Speedtechs flat T-bar mount. So, now I'm curious what is your plan for a sway bar. Are the mounts in the same location? Speedtechs sway bar has some of the best clearance iv come across. Ridetechs muscle bar has some clearance issues. A 9.5 rim will hit at about 5.75 back space. Just curious I'm diggin the build.

My frame is just in epoxy primer right now. I did choose the LCAs based on the lower shock mount. As for a sway bar I will be making my own splined bar with adjustable blades. Essentially used NASCAR or the likes. Im not to concerned about the mounting points since I’m making custom everything.

I thought about doing that with the sway bar also, but I got the whole package instead.
I should say I meant the mounts on the LCA's cause you might be able to use the Speedtech high clearance sway bar. If you did use a blade style you could the ridetechs posilinks that would be pretty slick. The one issue I found with a blade style is tire clearance due to the location of sway bar mount on the LCA. Show some pics when you get to it. Thanks!

That sway bar is off a purpose built race car. I know you can all sorts of different blades but there's more to it then that. Like mount locations on LCA tire clearance lots of factors go into it. With all that said I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Here are some more pictures of everything mocked up for the engine. Im working on building a custom radiator support now for the C&R NASCAR radiator and carbon duct.
